The Genealogy of Sea Sickness

Today I learned a lot of things. That the bottom a a whale's tale is like a fingerprint. Never the same, and that seasickness is a gene, and it looked like it got passed down to me. What are you asking me? I can't hear you from half way across the world. What? Ok..ok.. I'll explain it to you.
Today we started off with a 3 hour whale watchers boat tour. It was absolutely amazing. Whales were coming in and out of the water, and water coming out of the blowholes.  For the first 1:30 minutes it was absolutely stupendous, but then I learned the 2nd thing. I made the fateful decision to go look on the top deck. I was up there for less than a minute, and I got seasick. I ended up throwing up and feeding the fishes. I then just laid down and moaned. It felt horrible. After the ride, I got on the sand, picked it up, stared at it like it was god or the meaning in life, then threw it up in the air and played around in it
Like it was the best thing ever. I bent down and kissed the ground I was so happy.
After, I ate my body weight/weight of puke in food, we went on a hippo tour. It was on a river, so I was fine. It was actually nice, and we saw something that you don't see, we saw a wild leopard. It was amazing. Absolutely stunning.
After we came back and ate, now I'm sitting by the fire and blogging to you about the The Genealogy of Sea Sickness.

Blllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeecccccccccchhhhhhhhhh

  1. Oh poor, poor Benny!! I gather that your Dad didnt come on the boat ride. He learnt his lesson a long, long time ago in a place called Kalk Bay in Cape Town!! We remember it well.

  2. I have so much catching up to do. Grandpa and I have been out of touch with your last few blogs because this was the weekend of our 50th High School Reunion. I know, I know, HOW CAN ANYONE BE THAT OLD!!! But it was a fabulous weekend, and believe it or not, Grandpa Michael actually stayed up until after 1 AM last night. I believe the last time that happened was at our wedding. The last five days have been filled with old friends and memories. . BUT meanwhile YOU were out apparently eating "at a Chinese restaurant", being stalked by James 2, and throwing up ------while still managing to see amazing sights and experiencing incredible adventures. As Granny and Papa so beautiful stated it: "wow, wow, wow and some more wow!" I love you and miss you loads.... Love Grandma JOANIE

  3. Now here is a subject I can really sink my teeth into . . . seasickness, nausea and vomiting. I am certain that other responders to this informative blog will choose to not address this sensitive topic in a serious and adult-like manner. But, my close personal firend, Clyde Shlimovitz Beatty, knows wherefrom he speaks.
I remember him regaling a large audiance with the story of a cruise he took on the Dead Sea. He and his wife, the ever present and robust Myrtle Shlepper were aboard the Santa Maria when a huge storm struck. The waves were so high that Shlimovitz took refuge on the poop deck from where he and Myrtle felt comfortable hurling the contents of their stomachs in the general direction of Jordan. Unfortunately, the ship was sailing into a strong head wind. Well, as an experienced hurler, you can imagine what happened.
Ben, you need not be embarassed by this most natural of human bodily functions. A famous philospher, who shall go nameless, once said "you can't mess with the Loan Arranger and don't piss into the wind." Or something like that.

  6. I just read your got seasick. The best thing to eat or drink to help settle your stomach is tomato soup; preferably Campbell's.
