Up the mountain (yesterday)

What a day!  To start it off we hiked up a 1350 stair climb to a fortress on top of a hill.  It took 2 hours.  Next, we went to a beach called blue horizon, which was packed.  After an hour it started to rain.  We then had a picnic in the car for lunch.  Me and Sarah did a blind test taste with the different cheeses daddy bought.  After it stopped raining, mom and Sarah took a nap and me and daddy read books.  By the way, the book I'm readiing is called zlata's diary.  It is about a girl from Sarajevo during the war.  I like this book because it puts the war in a different perspective.  Even during the war, Zlata still had fun whether it was in her basement or at school.

After that we went to go get ice cream, we went to a cafe.  We played hearts.  Sarah won and daddy lost.  It was a great day.  Sarah will continue the story for today.  Bosnia, over and out.

  1. "From a different perspective." Stop that! You only have one perspective. You are a 10 year old boy!
I am relieved that you are returning to Croatia. My faithful interpreter, Vladimir, couldn't handle the Bosnian.
I don't know if anyone told you that I am the all time greatest hearts player, next to Hillary. I have been known to "shoot the moon" with six low hearts.
As for you guys climbing all those stairs, why didn't you take the escalator?

  2. Another thought. If the beloved Croatian patriot and hypochondriac, Bogislaw Stanislovsky, had the advantage of a fortress that was 1350 steps high, his followers could have rained down water balloons on the unsuspecting Huns. They probably would have still lost the battle, but it might have been more fun. Just another "perspective."

  3. Grandpa is so busy with these Stanislovsky brothers lately that we hardly see him. You have no idea the number of stories he has stored up!! Well, maybe you do. He seems to sharing quite a few of them with you. :) :) :) So, do you think you are getting enough dairy in your diet??? Cheeses!!! Ice Cream!!! Ice Cream!!! and Cheeses!!! Not a bad way to enjoy your delicious vacation. I believe I read "Zlata's Diary".... But I wasn't 10 years old. Well, the book wasn't written yet when I was 10 years old. The war didn't happen until much later. I guess that explains it!!!!) I am so impressed your reading lists. Not surprised, mind you, but always impressed. I love you and miss you.

  4. Your grandfather flatters himself as a hearts player. He would try to shoot the moon any time he had 13 cards in his hand which was every hand. Needless to say, his success rate was about zippo. We will challenge him in Michigan.

It sounds as if you are having the BEST vacation. Is the ice cream as good as Sherman Dairy?
