Today
Today was defintely multi-cultural :) (you'll get why that's funny in a sec.). To start the multi-cultural part we went to the Dome of the Rock which is SO much cooler than it looks :)!!!!! The architecture is outstanding!!!!!! Even though it was built about 2,000 years ago, the style is almost modern!!!!!Than after that we saw (or what they think) is the only part of the Bet Ha'migdash (true fact: the Kotel is a supporting wall of the Bet Ha'migdash, not part of the Bet Ha'migdash) Then we walked around the area and saw the real muslim deal. Apparently, the Dome of the Rock isn't the real deal. It's a mosque called the Al-Asqa Mosque. After that, we went to check out of our hotel (before, I said it was an okay hotel, but it was SO cool!!!! There was a pool, a nice breakfast/dinner buffet, and an AWESOME game room)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope it's gets better there in the US with all the heat. But I think it is hotter in Israel than there (either that or the dry heat that I'm not used to makes it 30-35 degrees hotter). I miss you all :) :) :) :)!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are going to have so, so much to tell us when you get back. We can't wait!! We have not seen a fraction of what you have seen and it makes us want to go back to Israel so much! Lucky, lucky you. Missing you lots and lots. Hugs and XXXXXXs
ReplyDeleteAwesome things you guys have had a chance to see. You will have to show m next time.
ReplyDeleteSee you on Friday.
Love...
Wow!!! I have never seen that Masque. I am so glad you had the opportunity to see it. What stories you will have to tell. I hope you have pictures. Luv and miss you all!!! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's been too long since we've heard from you, the "Jackson Pollack" of Chicago garage doors. We have had little to talk about here without your various ruminations. It got so that when people stopped me on the street and asked, "what's the word from Ben Sollinger?" I could only look blank. (not hard you say!) Anyway, your recent travels in and around Jerusalem sound great, especially the spelunking with headlights. Tell your mom I really appreciate that she graced my family with a visit.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had a spectacular time in Jerusalem. We have seen many of the sights you told us about, but not all. I don't think we ever went to the mosque, the dome on the rock.... These treasured memories will be with you forever. And your cousin Miriam is the BEST guide EVER!!! And more importantly, I'm glad your "average" hotel turned out to be "so cool"... Isn't it nice to have these wonderful surprises. I'm going to be in Michigan for a few days with a few of my girlfriends. We're staying at Lynne's house in New Buffalo. Do you remember her house with the pool in the back? You and Sarah have been swimming there a few times. At any rate, I might not be able to blog for a few days. So Grandpa will have to speak for both of us. UH OH!!!! I love you and miss you too. Enjoy your last week in Israel and and be sure to give our love to all our relatives there.
ReplyDeleteHey Bennie-Bee,
ReplyDeleteYour travels sound amazing! Can't wait to see the pics when you get back.
I'm sure you're excited to see your dad soon. You will barely recognize him, he has grown his hair long, he now has a beard, and he also has 3 earrings and 2 snake tattoos!
Don't forget..."baie koud, baie dankie, and kyk!"
